■楽曲解説

TUBASSADORSの委嘱により1stアルバム「ADVENTURE」のために書かせて頂いた作品。アドベンチャー、というアルバムタイトルの印象そのままに、冒険者たちが未開のジャングルへ果敢に飛び込んでいく姿を描きました。チューバはものすごく多彩な表現が可能な楽器ですが、この曲では筋肉質で野性的な…時に「ゴリゴリ」と云われるような面にフォーカスしています。８分の６拍子ならではの３分割と２分割を行き来するリズム、随所に現れるポリフォニックな絡み合い。そんな音の密林地帯をエネルギッシュに駆け抜けてください。中間部はジャングルの夜を描いています。静寂の中に響く不気味な鳴き声や、奇妙な虫の出現に怯える心。それでも、やがてまた太陽が昇ればアドレナリンが噴出し、冒険せずにはいられなくなるのです。私はTUBASSADORSの演奏や活動から、従来のチューバのイメージを覆すような「現代的で洗練された」印象を受けてきました。衝撃的なクールさ！だからこそ、むさ苦しいジャングルに立ち向かう姿も見てみたくなったのですが、彼らは見事に踏破してくれています。この曲には勢いで演奏すると崩壊する危険な箇所も多くありますが、逆に言えばスリリングな噛み合わせ/絡み合いが醍醐味ですので、それをたっぷりと味わいながら取り組んでいただけたらうれしいですね…！

■Program Note

"Commissioned by TUBASSADORS for Their First Album ADVENTURE"
This piece was written for TUBASSADORS’ debut album, ADVENTURE, inspired by the album’s title and capturing the image of adventurers boldly plunging into an unexplored jungle. While the tuba is an incredibly versatile instrument, this composition focuses on its muscular, wild, and at times “gritty” character. The shifting rhythms between triplet and duplet feel in 6/8 time and the polyphonic interplay throughout create a dense sonic jungle. Charge through this thicket of sound with energy!
The middle section portrays the jungle at night?the eerie calls in the silence, and the unnerving appearances of strange insects, causing a sense of fear. But as soon as the sun rises, the adrenaline kicks in, and the call to adventure becomes irresistible again.
TUBASSADORS’ performances and activities have redefined the image of the tuba for me, presenting a “modern and refined” impression?shockingly cool! It’s exactly why I wanted to see them face the rugged jungle, and they’ve conquered it brilliantly. While certain sections of this piece can fall apart if rushed, it’s exactly this thrilling interplay that is its true charm. I hope you’ll relish that excitement as you approach this work!
