シャコンヌ

■楽曲解説

シャコンヌとはスペインを発祥とする3拍子舞曲の一つで特に2拍目に重要な拍が来るのが特徴の形式です。その中でもバッハのシャコンヌはひときわ知名度が高く今も多くの演奏家によって解釈され演奏されてきました。
バッハの有名なシャコンヌ(本曲)は、無伴奏ヴァイオリンのためのパルティータ 第2番 ニ短調 (BWV1004)の五曲目であり、全曲のクライマックスでもあります。オリジナルのヴァイオリンでも超絶技巧が求められ、カデンツァではオリジナリティを求められます。
今回の楽譜では日本サックス界を代表する3人のプレイヤーによる豪華なアレンジになっています。(各氏による3ヴァリエーションを収録)

■アレンジ内容1(解説：田村真寛)

僕がアレンジ作品を演奏する上で特に心がけていることといえば、楽譜上のことでも、演奏上のことでも、いかに「サクソフォンであることを想定して」取り組むかということ。 それは、自分の技術との擦り合わせでもあり、作曲家との交信の時間でもあります。 「バッハ先生、あなただったらこのサクソフォンという楽器を使ってどのように料理しますか?これはちょっと難しいけど、 これもステキじゃない?」と、あの世へ入り込み、楽譜を通じて作曲家とディスカッションするのです。

たとえば同じくバッハの無伴奏フルートのパルティータや、マラン・マレのスペインのフォリアであったり、はたまた ボノーのワルツ形式によるカプリスであったり、数ある管楽器の無伴奏作品の書法をなんとなく頭に思い浮かべながら、 サクソフォン用へ「意訳」をしていきました。

「チャレンジ精神」というものは成長していく上で非常に大切なものですが、その時持ち合わせている技術で、この美しい旋律やハーモニーを純粋に日常の生活の中の一部として取り込むこと、この崇高な作品と対峙する楽しみが、皆様の人生をより豊かにすることにつながれば幸いです。

■アレンジ内容2(解説：松下洋)

この曲に取り組む際、将来的にピアノとのデュオ演奏をしてみたいという構想があったので、ちょうど大好きなロベルト・シューマンによるヴァイオリン&ピアノの譜面を殆どそのままサクソフォンに使用しました。
ソロの音は原展版と殆ど同じなのですが、アーティキュレーションが強い個性を持っており、シューマンの付与した和声感覚の面白さも相まってかなり斬新なアイデアを随所にくれることでしょう。

さて、通常ならばあまりにも離れた感覚を使うバッハに寄り添うには本当に多くの時間や知識を使うものだと思います。
それゆえに永遠の課題として、味わいが尽きない魅力で溢れていると思いますし、何かを掴もうとするならば神に捧げ続けた膨大な曲数を紐解くのはかなり難しいかもしれません。

ですがこの曲は特段と、バッハのとても人間らしい面で溢れており、ひとつの曲を創りきって了するまでの長い道(旅の様だとも言われますね)を、じっくりと全力で踏みしめていくような力強さ、そして曲の終わりを迎えたくないのではないかという足取りの重さとメランコリーで曲が書かれています。
全ての事象を受け入れて最後の音を終え、節目としていくこの所作の美しさといったら、人が人らしくてよかったと思える、人の営み中でも極上の美しさを持つと思います。

自分にとっては上手に吹けるかどうかはあまり関係なく、過去数万人以上と思いますが、この曲を愛する多くの演奏家が辿ったであろう道を自分も歩いてみたかったんです。どの音もなるべく省くことなく、楽譜に書かれている全ての音を並べてみたかった。
サックスという楽器では不恰好なシーンもあるかもしれないし、新鮮な表現もあるかもしれません。
しかし折角の機会だからバッハに少しでも近い位置で触れたかったし、偉大な先人たちが汲み取った感情を楽しみたかったので、サックスに合わせることなく演奏しました。

常に複数の声部を同時に演奏していることを忘れないようにして、バッハの人間らしさ、シューマンがバッハに捧げた敬意を存分に楽しんでいただけたら嬉しいです。

■アレンジ内容3(解説：本堂誠)

自分なりに原曲らしさをできる限り尊重した形が今回のアレンジです。
ヴァイオリンでなければできないことにチャレンジすることと、サクソフォンだからできる得意なことをどちらも取り入れようとしています。

この曲に取り組む人には、ぜひオリジナルのヴァイオリン版を聞いていただき、その上で奏者がこの曲のどの部分を核として大切にしているのかを見出してほしいと思っています。
また私が今感じていることは5年後、10年後には変化している可能性が大いにあります。1つの楽譜のアイデアに捉われず、自分だけのシャコンヌを作り上げていく面白さにも触れてほしいです。

Chaconne from Partita for Solo Violin

■Program Note

The chaconne is one of the triple time dances that originated in Spain and is characterized by the important beat coming on the second beat. Among these, Bach's chaconne is particularly well known and has been interpreted and performed by many performers.
This piece is the fifth piece of Partita for Solo Violin No.2 in D minor (BWV1004) and the climax of the entire piece. Even the original violin requires superb technique, and the cadenza demands originality.
In this score, three of the leading players in the world of Japanese saxophone have made gorgeous arrangements. (3 variations by each player)

■Arrangement Details 1(explanation：Masahiro Tamura)

One thing I try to keep in mind when performing an arrangement is how to “assume the saxophone,” both in the score and in the performance. It is a time for me to check my technique, and it is also a time for me to communicate with the composer. I ask myself, “Mr. Bach, how would you cook with this saxophone instrument? This one is a bit difficult, but isn't this one beautiful? I enter the other world and discuss with the composer through the score.

For example, Bach's Partita in A minor for Flute(BWV 1013), Marais's Les Folies d' Espagne, or Bonaud's Caprice En Forme De Valse, I would imagine the writing style of many unaccompanied wind works and translate them for saxophone.

I hope that the skills you have at the time will allow you to take in these beautiful melodies and harmonies as a pure part of your daily life, and that the pleasure of confronting this sublime work will enrich your life.

■Arrangement Details 2(explanation：Yo Matsushita)

When working on this piece, I had the idea of performing it as a duo with piano in the future, so I used the violin and piano score by Robert Schumann, whom I just love, almost as is for saxophone.
The solo sound is almost the same as the original version, but the articulation has a strong character, and together with the interesting sense of harmony given by Schumann, it will give you quite a few novel ideas.

Now, I think it really takes a lot of time and knowledge to get close to Bach, who usually uses too detached a sense.
Therefore, I think it is an eternal challenge, full of fascination that never runs out of flavor, and if you are trying to grasp something, it may be quite difficult to unravel the vast number of pieces that he continued to dedicate to God.

However, is especially full of Bach's very human side, with the strength of a man who is slowly treading the long road (some say it is like a journey) with all his might until he completes a piece, and with the heaviness and melancholy of a man who may not want to see the end of a piece. It is written.
The beauty of this gesture of accepting everything that has happened and finishing the last note as a milestone is one of the most beautiful of all human activities, and makes us feel happy that we are human.

For me, it doesn't really matter if I can play it well or not. I wanted to walk the path that many performers who love this music must have followed in the past, more than tens of thousands, I think. I wanted to lay out all the notes in the score without omitting any of them as much as possible.
Some scenes might be awkward on the saxophone instrument, and some expressions might be fresh.
But since it was a rare opportunity, I wanted to touch Bach as close as possible and enjoy the emotions that our great predecessors had captured, so I played without adjusting to the saxophone.

I hope you will always remember that you are playing multiple voices at the same time, and I hope you will fully enjoy Bach's humanity and the respect that Schumann paid to him.

■Arrangement Details 3(explanation：Makoto Hondo)

This arrangement is a form that respects the original song as much as possible in my own way.
I am trying to incorporate both the challenges of what can only be done on the violin and what the saxophone is good at.

I hope that those who work on this piece will listen to the original violin version and then discover what parts of the piece the player values as the core of the piece.
What I feel now could very well change in 5 or 10 years, and I hope that people will experience the fun of creating their own unique chaconne without being limited by the ideas of a single score.

心の瞳

■アレンジ内容(解説：梅田詠侍)

今回のアレンジでは原曲のイメージを抑えつつ、クラリネットの温かいサウンドとおしゃれなハーモニー感を演出 してみました。
テンポの遅いのバラードを演奏する際に大事なのはブレスのとり方です。 休符が少ない曲でもテンポに応じたブレスのとり方をすれば、フレーズの切れ目を感じさせずに演奏することができるでしょう。

Kokoro-no-Hitomi

In this arrangement, I tried to create a warm clarinet sound and a stylish sense of harmony.
When playing a slow ballad , it is important to take the breath. Even if the song does not have many rests, you will be able to play it without feeling a break in the phrase if you take your breath in a way that is appropriate for the tempo.

ゲレンデがとけるほど恋したい

■楽曲解説

この曲は、最近youtubeでも人気の「冬の女王」こと広瀬香美の７枚目シングル曲として1995年に発表されました。同年に公開されたウィンタースポーツをする若者たちの友情と恋愛を描いた青春映画「ゲレンデが溶けるほど恋したい」の主題歌やスキー用品販売メーカー「アルペン」のCMソングにもなりました。最近は若者を中心に９０年代ソングが再燃しており、そのブームにのってサックスアンサンブルにしてみました！「懐かしい」「エモい」…今もなお世代を超えて愛される名曲をお楽しみください！

■アレンジ内容(解説：奥野祐樹)

バリトンサックスが刻むベースのリズムと、上の3本のかみ合わせが意外と難しいですが、バシッと決まるとめちゃくちゃ気持ち良いです。特にAメロの直前に要注意ポイントがあります。他の曲に比べると結構複雑めなアレンジをしているつもりなので、4人でよく合わせて演奏してもらえると嬉しいですね。サビの前に全員ブレイクになる部分が、個人的にかなり好きです。この曲はとにかく全体的にエモくて熱いです。

It was also featured in a commercial for the ski equipment brand Alpen.
With '90s songs trending again among younger generations, we’ve arranged this hit for saxophone ensemble. Relive the nostalgia and feel the “emo” vibes as you enjoy this timeless classic, loved across generations!

"The Baritone Sax Lays Down the Groove!"
The bass rhythm carried by the baritone sax and the interplay with the upper three parts can be surprisingly tricky, but when it all clicks, it feels incredibly satisfying. Watch out for the critical moment just before the A melody?it’s a key point! Compared to other pieces, this arrangement is intentionally more complex, so I’d love for the quartet to really lock in and play in sync. Personally, I’m a big fan of the full break just before the chorus. Overall, this song is packed with emotion and energy!

Ballad for Trouvère

■楽曲解説

バラード・フォー・トルヴェールは、トルヴェール・クワルテットのために作曲・献呈されたサキソフォン四重奏のための作品。作曲者である横内章次の残した数少ないオリジナル作品のひとつでもある。
本作品はトルヴェール4作目のアルバムである「イノセント・ドールズ」（1994年発売)に収録され、後にベスト盤である「トゥルーヴェ・トルヴェール! 」（2002年発売）にも収録された。
その美しい旋律とハーモニーは今なお幅広い世代のサックス奏者に愛されている。全編を通して誰でもすぐ口ずさめるような、キャッチーなメロディが特徴的な作品である。タイトルを日本語訳すると"吟遊詩人のうた"とでも言えようか…中世の歌い手がサックスを持って現代に転生したかのような雰囲気を感じさせる。

Ballad for Trouvère

■Program Note

Ballad for Trouvère is a composition for saxophone quartet, dedicated to the Trouvère Quartet by the composer Shoji Yokouchi. It is one of the few original works Yokouchi left behind. This piece was featured in the Trouvère Quartet’s fourth album, Innocent Dolls (released in 1994), and later in the best-of album Trouver Trouvère (released in 2002). Its beautiful melody and harmony continue to be loved by saxophonists of all ages. The entire piece is marked by catchy, singable melodies, as if a medieval singer had been reincarnated in the modern age with a saxophone.

藍に染まるころ

■楽曲解説（解説：石川亮太）

　「ジャパンブルー」をテーマにした曲です。この言葉は明治時代に来日したある科学者が、藍色の着物を着た人々 が街に溢れている様子を表現したものと言われています。職人たちが藍染めをするストイックな様子を静かに揺らぐ ような音型で、藍染めの着物の最盛期たる江戸時代の街の活気を太鼓や三味線風のリズムで描きました。共通してい るのは「粋」な雰囲気で、典型的な日本的・時代劇的な曲調でありながらも、チューバサダーズの醸し出すクールで 洗練されたムードにも合うようにと意識したつもりです。

　そもそもは、今回のＣＤのテーマカラー「青」に合わせた曲を作りたいと考えたのが始まりでした。チューバサ ダーズに似合う青…どんな可能性があるだろう？と想像したところ、四人が藍色の着物を着ている姿が浮かんできた のです。すごく似合いそうに思いましたし、海外との繋がりが深いメンバーたち×着物という組み合わせにワクワク したのです。ですので皆さまにも一度、それぞれのプレイヤーが寡黙な染物職人や気の良い商人、町奉行や侍に扮し ているところを想像してみていただきたいですね。きっと素敵なストーリーが浮かんでくるはずです！

The Time We Were Dyed Indigo ”Japan”Blue

■Program Note

This piece is based on the theme of “Japan Blue.” The term is said to have originated with a scientist who visited Japan during the Meiji era and used it to describe the sight of people in indigo-dyed kimonos filling the streets. The stoic, focused attitude of the artisans engaged in indigo dyeing is expressed through quietly swaying musical figures, while the bustling energy of Edo-period towns ? when indigo-dyed clothing was at its peak ? is depicted through taiko and shamisen-like rhythms. What ties it all together is a sense of *iki* ? refined elegance ? that blends a distinctly Japanese, period-drama-like tone with the cool, sophisticated atmosphere characteristic of the Tuba-saders.

The inspiration for the piece actually came from the CD’s theme color, “blue.” I began thinking about what kind of blue would suit the Tuba-saders, and the image that came to mind was of the four members dressed in indigo-dyed kimonos. It felt like a perfect fit ? and the combination of internationally active musicians wearing traditional Japanese attire was an exciting thought. So, I’d love for listeners to imagine each player taking on a role: a quiet dyeing artisan, a good-natured merchant, a town magistrate, or a samurai. I’m sure a wonderful story will begin to unfold from that image!

re-Encounter

■楽曲解説

「小さな幸せに気づき、それを幸せだと感じられる人になってください。」
私が中学校を卒業する時に校長先生から贈られた言葉です。「re-Encounter」は、そんな小さな幸せをテーマにした曲になっています。ものとでも、人とでも、音楽とでも、心惹かれるものとの思いがけない偶然の出会い。その偶然がもし2回続いたら、その喜びは2倍、3倍と膨れ上がります。ゆったりと、でも力強く刻まれていくグルーヴを楽しんでいただければ嬉しいです。

卒業式の定番となった合唱曲『旅立ちの日に』は当時秩父市立影森中学校の音楽教員であった坂本浩美によって作曲されました。前半では落ち着いたメロディーで、これまでの思い出を振り返って懐かしく切ない気持ちになります。後半にはこれから羽ばたいていく希望が感じられる一曲です。

Let the two saxophones play closely together, acknowledging and supporting each other with care throughout the performance.
